Citrix will always be slightly faster than Remote Desktop. The difference though in current versions is not as pronounced as it was in earlier versions, so I would not focus on that aspect at this point. The most likely area to start looking is the actual configuration of the Servers. Native database is very unforgiving on how the drives and commit cache are configured, and very few Hosting providers are aware of this, so they probably just set it up as they would a SQL server, which just wont work. Unfortunately without specific data it is nearly impossible to provide answers. The list of things to look for is a big list. This is the sort of job that needs to log into the system and review everything methodically step by step. Before I moved to SQL Performance tuning I did many Native database tuneups, and the god news is that it is generally quite easy to resolve the issues, it just takes time and testing to work out exactly what to do.
