You have to debug and go through the code to see, where you are missing the logic.

Forum Post: RE: Create copy function
I believe, If you are implementing some thing which is already implemented and trying to make a copy of this then first thing what I will do is I will try to understand the functionality that actually I am trying to copy. If copying source code is yet not clear to me then how come I can make a copy of that.

Blog Post: My first Dynamics 365 Extension – NAV vs 365
I am now in the validation of my app. Unfortunately I don’t have enough time to make this go any faster so please be patient. This process will take time. Here is an example of the expected time frame. As you may have read in my previous post I created a few videos. These are the first comment from Microsoft about these videos. The obvious information from here is that I can’t use Dynamics NAV anywhere in my Dynamics 365 for Financials extension. I asked and this is the solution they gave me. If you add &aid=fin to the end of your Web Client URL it will add the Dynamics 365 shell. When I start my web client the normal Url is “http://tfw107131:8080/NAV2017DEV0000077/WebClient/”. By adding the suggested switch to the Url and starting the web client with “http://tfw107131:8080/NAV2017DEV0000077/WebClient/?aid=fin” I will get the Dynamics 365 shell. The parameters that are added to the Url start with a question mark (?) and after that each parameter starts with the ampersand (&). As an example, I have opened the Customer List and the Url says: “http://tfw107131:8080/NAV2017DEV0000077/WebClient/?aid=fin&bookmark=27%3bEgAAAAJ7CDAAMQAxADIAMQAyADEAMg%3d%3d&page=22&company=CRONUS International Ltd.&dc=0”. The parameter order does not matter, the “aid=fin” can be placed anywhere in the parameter part of the Url. Now I am back at creating screen shots, videos and documentation. All with the new Dynamics 365 for Financials look and feel.

Blog Post: NAVTechDays 2016: Final thoughts
It’s been a while since NAV TechDays. And for a while I was thinking to skip the blogpost on how the latest NAV TechDays has been.. . But then again – the convention is without doubt the best one around for NAV developers, while it’s still “just” a private initiative from Luc – so it deserves all the attention it can get. :-). Every year I write to you how perfect NAVTechDays has been .. . Well, this year, no difference! Basically, Luc did it again and put together a fantastic conference ! For years (6th edition last year) NAV TechDays is THE must-go-to conference for Microsoft Dynamics NAV developers. And it appears that most of us (except for the French developers – there was only 1 attendee from France (??) …) realize that. This year, Luc managed to get 1044 attendees to Antwerp, Belgium. 1044 of you that faced the awful Belgian traffic to get to NAV TechDays. And as I always say: who decided to not go, was awfully wrong! It’s a time for you to be able to be “fully” into the product. In an atmosphere that is especially set up for developers, to focus in the most comfortable way possible on the product, and its future.. . An atmosphere you will not be able to get at home .. . So yeah, basically I’m writing a write-up like I have done for years: It was perfect again! So this write up might be getting boring – but I must say – NAV TechDays most certainly was not! Yet again, all was very well organized, in my opinion. Great food, beer tasting, perfect session rooms (movie theatre quality), 90-minute deep dive sessions, perfect speaker infrastructure, big screens, … well, all an attendee (and also a speaker) could wish for. Great stuff! And thank you so much Luc, for taking the time, effort and above all the risk and responsibility for putting this together for us each year! Great stuff! 2 Pre-Conference Days The biggest change with previous years was the extra Pre Conference Day. 2 instead of 1 this year. This way, the attendees had the chance to get even more value out of making the trip. Over 300 attendees decided to take the opportunity to dive into the deep dive workshops during the Pre-Conference Days (which I mentioned in my previous blog ). I heard many great things about it, so I’m sure it’s going to be there on the next NAV TechDays as well. Fingers crossed :-). All sessions are online A big differentiator with all other conferences is the fact that all these sessions are highly repeatable (aren’t we all trying to get into this repeatability-mode? ). What I mean is: they are all recorded and online, available for everybody – no matter if you attended the conference or not. Now how’s that for a community-initiative? I don’t know one conference that does that. This is a big differentiator, and when you look at the amount of views, it’s highly appreciated by the community. Luc has put everything on his youtube-channel . Have a look at it. Highly recommended! My NAVTechDays For me, it was quite a busy conference. I had two Pre-Conference Days on “PowerShell Black Belt”. Two full days of PowerShell-ing that hell out of ourselves! I always enjoy telling people about PowerShell – I just hope all attendees enjoyed themselves as well :-). The feedback was overall quite OK, so I’m happy with it :-). It’s why I do it. During the conference, I covered two sessions. That’s quite enough, I must say ;-). For me .. and probably also for you ;-). First session was together with Vjeko and Gary about “Bad Habits of NAV Developers”. It’s was meant to be a somewhat ludic session, and ended up to have been voted the best session of the conference (based on the points you gave on all the difference sessions). Very proud about that! You can watch it here: My other session was somewhat more serious: “Best Practices in developing Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 Extensions”. And to be clear: I was talking about Extensions v1: the PowerShell way. I got a comment that there was a bit too much PowerShell in it .. . Sorry for that .. in my opinion PowerShell is one of the “problems” people have with building Extensions .. so yes, I decided to give it a decent focus. Here you can watch that session: NAVTechDays 2017 And yes, we’ll have a NAVTechDays next year as well! Needless to say that I’m very much looking forward to that! .. . So book your agendas for next year 16th and 17th of November 2017! Some impressions I always like to end with some impressions of the conference: One of the slides during our “Bad Habits” session… One fun addition: a “throwable” microphone .. to throw to people that had questions. Fun! :-). Until Vjeko throws it and almost puts someone in the hospital ;-). Me, being serious… And less serious …

Blog Post: “How-to” implement a Copy Loop in Word report layouts
“How-to” implement a Copy Loop in Word report layouts Some time ago, I found this post on Microsoft Dynamics Community about: “No. of Copies” doesn’t work in Word Layout reports, “No. of Copies” works only on RDLC reports. Example: Report 1306 Standard Sales – Invoice, “N. Copies” on request page Post Topic “Hi experts, I had to produce a report via Word layout in NAV 2015 and it had the “No. of Copies” option on the request page. However, this option doesn’t have any effect on the word report and it only prints one copy. If required to print more copies, the user has to either save or preview the word report and then do it as if from a word document. Will the option “No. of Copies” only works for RDLC reports or is there a way I can get it working on the word layout as well? Your comments/help will be much appreciated. Thanks & Regards.” Post Source https://community.dynamics.com/nav/f/34/p/215054/602685#602685 My Answer …after some tests: “Hi, you are right!… “No. of Copies” doesn’t work in Word Layout report! .. after this i asked (some days ago) to NAV Team for a product improvementworkaround.” Product Suggestion “N. of copies” with Word Layout Reports. I know that the option “No. of Copies” works only for RDLC reports (by design i think, this option is not existing on Mini World layout sample Reports) or is there a way i can get it working on the word layout as well? If a user, either required printing more copies, this user has to “ save ” or “ preview ” the word report and then do it as if from a word document. May be useful for “ Post and Print ” feature (“ to print more copies .”..) You can find my Product Suggestion here: https://connect.microsoft.com/dynamicssuggestions/Feedback/Details/3118831 @Today, Solution is delivered by NAV Team Blog “Because many partners asked to have this feature, an official solution (by my friend Duilio Tacconi of Microsoft) is today available. I tested this solution in preview before the post was published n NAV Team Blog, is a nice workaround, useful for “ Post & Print ” feature. Blog Post: How to Modify existing field and action properies on a page
I would like to show How to Modify existing field and action properties on a page using simple assignment. My goal is to make below changes in standard Purchase Order page. 1. I would like to change existing field name from “Buy-from Vendor No.” to “Vendor No.” 2. And to make sure that Post action is visible only from Windows Client and not from Web Client. Purchase Order page looks like below before modifications. I have created PurchOrderPageExtension.al object as shown in below screenshot. You can refer my previous blogs to know how to create al objects in detailed. 1 st part of the code shows how to modify existing field “Buy-from Vendor No.” Here I have modified property CaptionML of “Buy-from Vendor No.” field. 2 nd part of the code shows how to modify existing action Post properties. Here I have modified properties CaptionML and Visible. You can check below part for declaration of global variables and OnOpenPage triggers. [InDataSet] PostVisible : Boolean; Above declaration is equal to Setting IncludeInDataset property of global variables to Yes in previous development. Now Build Package (Ctrl+Shift+B) and Publish (F5). Now the Purchase Order page looks like We can notice that field “Buy-from Vendor No.” changed to “Vendor No.” Post is changed to “Post visible from Windows Client”. And Post button is not visible from Web Client. Make sure that we can modify only few properties as described here https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics-nav/extension-packages-capability-support-matrix
